Residents demonstrated along Nairobi’s bustling Waiyaki Way on Tuesday morning in reaction for a police officer’s alleged shooting and killing of six persons in Kabete, including his wife.

To delay traffic along the important Nairobi-Nakuru highway, the mob barred the route and burnt tires.

The killings and protest were confirmed by Kabete Sub-County Police Commander Francis Wahome.

He added that two more individuals were injured by gunshots and were being treated at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).

Constable Benson of Kabete police station went home with his AK47 rifle and picked a fight with his wife Carol at J Apartments near N Market in the early am shooting spree.

Four bullets and four empty cartridges were discovered with the handgun.

More information, including the names of the victims, will be released later, according to police.

What prompted the officer’s shooting spree was not immediately known.
